This process is not something new, although it has intensified in recent decades as a result of technological development, which has allowed for an acceleration of transactions and interactions between different parts of the world.

Globalization is characterized by the intensification of international relations, causing an economic, political, and social interdependence among different countries. In this sense, globalization generates both positive and negative effects. On one hand, it promotes integration and the exchange of experiences and knowledge among different cultures. On the other hand, it can lead to cultural homogenization and an increase in social inequalities.

Importance of the Topic

Understanding globalization is essential to comprehend contemporary society. The globalized world we live in is shaped by a series of transformations that began in the 20th century and intensified in this century. These transformations affect our daily lives in various ways and are influenced by various historical events, such as the capitalist crisis of 1929, the Cold War, the emergence of new digital technologies, terrorism, identity diversity, and economic policies in Latin America.

Therefore, by studying globalization, we will not only better understand the world we live in but also develop a critical view of the consequences and challenges of this process. This will allow us to participate more consciously and actively in the political, economic, and social decisions that affect our lives.

Practical Activity: 'Mapping Globalization'

Project Objective

The project aims to help students understand the implications of globalization through different aspects of history and contemporary society. Additionally, they will learn to work in teams, manage project time, and enhance their research and writing skills.

Detailed Project Description

The groups (with 3 to 5 students) should create a 'Map of Globalization', where they will investigate and represent different topics related to globalization. The map will be divided into seven main segments, each representing an important theme of the globalized world: Capitalist Crisis of 1929, Cold War, Digital Technologies, Terrorism, Identity Diversity, Economic Policies in Latin America, and Approximation between diverse societies and nations.

Each segment of the map should contain the students' analysis of the global implications of the theme and a specific case study that illustrates the theme in action. This case study can be a historical event, a current situation, a future prediction based on current trends, or a creative representation of how this aspect of globalization manifests in everyday life.

Students should use a variety of materials to create their map, making it visually appealing, dynamic, and informative. They can use newspaper clippings, photos taken by the students, drawings, graphics, diagrams, slogans, poems, relevant quotes, and anything else that helps illustrate the concepts being explored.

• Colored pens, colored pencils, and markers
• Glue and scissors
• Magazine and newspaper clippings
• Computer with internet access for research

Detailed Step-by-Step:

1. Divide the classroom into groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Each group should select the subtopics and start researching them. They should look for historical and contemporary events that exemplify each topic.

3. The groups should discuss and plan how they will represent each topic on their map.

4. With the research done and the planning completed, students should start assembling their map.

5. Once the map is ready, each group should present it to the class, explaining what they have learned about each topic and how they relate to globalization.

6. After the presentation, students should write a report on the project.

Project Deliverables

The project will have two main deliverables:

1. The 'Map of Globalization': This is the final result of the practical activity. It should be creative, informative, and reflect the students' understanding of the studied concepts.

2. The Report: Each student must produce an individual report on the project. The report should contain four main topics: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

   • Introduction: Contextualization of the topic, its relevance and real-world application, and the project's objective.
   • Development: Explanation of the theory behind the project's central themes, activity details, methodology used, and discussion of the results obtained.
   • Conclusions: The main points learned during the project and the conclusions drawn from it.
   • Bibliography: The research sources used for the project's elaboration.

It is important that the report aligns with what was worked on in the map. The written analyses and conclusions should be based on the research conducted for the map creation.
