"Analysis of Charts in the Real World"
Project Objective:
To present, in a practical and applicable way, the importance and use of charts in data analysis in the real context, reinforcing the understanding of the types of charts and when each should be used.
Detailed Project Description:
Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, should choose, analyze, and recreate charts found in media such as newspapers, magazines, and news websites. Each group should choose three different charts from different media.
The chosen charts should be of different types (column, pie, line, etc.) and should be recreated by the students using spreadsheets, such as Excel or Google Sheets.
After recreating the charts, students should conduct a critical analysis of the charts, answering questions such as: Was the chart an appropriate choice for the data presented? If not, what type of chart would be more suitable and why? Was there any issue in the data presentation on the chart? How could this issue be resolved?
Required Materials:
- Computer with internet access
- Chart creation program (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets)
Detailed Step-by-Step:
- Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
- Each group should research and choose three charts from different media. The charts should be of different types.
- Students should recreate the chosen charts using a spreadsheet.

Recreated Charts: The recreated charts should be delivered in a spreadsheet file. Each chart should be on a separate sheet of the spreadsheet, with the title and the source of the original chart.

- Introduction: Contextualization of the theme, explaining the importance of charts in the real world and the project's objective.
- Development: The theory behind the choice and construction of the charts, a detailed description of the activity carried out, the methodology used for the choice, recreation, and analysis of the charts, and the discussion of the results obtained.
- Conclusions: Recap of the main points addressed throughout the project, explicitation of the learnings acquired, observations, and conclusions about the choice and use of charts in the real world.
- Bibliography: Indication of the sources where the original charts were found and other sources used to understand the necessary concepts for the project.
