Contextualization
Futsal, also known as indoor soccer, is a sport that has been gaining more and more fans and spectators around the world. Its origins go back to Uruguay in the 1930s, but it was in Brazil that the sport achieved significant popularity and technical development. Futsal is characterized by speed and dynamism, being practiced in a reduced space and demanding skills such as agility, precision in passing, and good game vision from the players.
The game is played on a rectangular court, with teams formed by five players each, including the goalkeeper. The ball used is smaller and less bouncy than the field soccer ball, which favors control and short passes. The matches are usually divided into two 20-minute halves, with a break for rest. In addition, futsal develops a series of motor skills in practitioners, such as coordination, balance, and quick reaction.
Knowledge of the rules of futsal is essential for practicing and appreciating the game. Among them, highlights include aspects such as free substitutions, the limit of fouls per period, and specific punishments that differ from traditional soccer. Familiarization with these rules is essential not only for athletes and coaches, but also for referees, sports commentators, and fans of the sport.
Futsal's importance goes beyond its competitive and entertainment aspects. This sport is a valuable pedagogical tool within the school context, contributing to the development of socioemotional skills such as teamwork, leadership, mutual respect, and overcoming challenges. When incorporated into Physical Education classes, futsal stands out as a means of promoting health, social integration, and the construction of important values for the development of young people.
Reliable Resources

- FIFA: The International Football Federation has plenty of material on the international rules of futsal, as well as data on world championships.
- Physical Education Books: A search in school or municipal libraries can reveal Physical Education books dealing with futsal, from its technical aspects to its history and importance in the sports context.
- Scientific Articles: Accessing databases such as Scielo and Google Scholar can enrich theoretical knowledge with recent research and studies on futsal.
These resources will serve as a foundation for students to build a robust understanding of futsal, in addition to allowing for a deeper discussion on the topic.
Practical Activity: "Futsal Leagues: From Theory to Practice"
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to ensure that students not only know the rules and history of futsal, but are also able to apply this knowledge in practice by organizing a mini-league within the school, composing all the stages from planning to final games, and reporting on the experiences and lessons learned during the process.
Detailed Project Description
Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be responsible for creating and managing a team in the mini futsal league, acting as players, coaches, and organizers, going through stages such as team design, training planning, study of rules, organization of the championship, and evaluation of team performance. The project will have an estimated duration of around 15 hours, divided over several weeks to allow for adequate development of each stage.

Project Deliverables
Written Document
The project will include the drafting of a report with the following sections:
- Introduction: Contextualization of futsal and objectives of the mini-league project.
- Development: Detailed description of team planning, strategies, study of rules, organization, and execution of the championship. Methodologies used for preparing and analyzing the games should be discussed.
- Conclusion: Evaluation of team performance, lessons learned about futsal, and reflection on the socioemotional skills developed.
- Bibliography: List of all sources used, including study materials on futsal, articles, websites, and other references.
In addition to the written report, students should produce:
- A media portfolio containing photos, videos, and promotional materials.
- A presentation for the class sharing the experience and results of the project.
Students should use the practical experience gained in the project to enrich each section of the document. Reflecting on how theory and practice connect throughout the project will be a crucial point for evaluating the work.
