Reading and interpreting texts of various genres is an essential skill for life in society. Throughout our lives, we come across an incredible variety of texts - from news and scientific articles to poetry and fiction stories - and the ability to understand these types of texts helps us navigate the world and make informed decisions.

Reading and interpreting different textual genres involve more than just understanding the meaning of words on paper. Each textual genre has its own unique structures and conventions, and understanding these structures helps us to delve deeper into the meaning of the text. Furthermore, reading and interpreting texts of various genres allows us to engage with a variety of perspectives and experiences, enriching our understanding of the world.

At the same time, in our increasingly digital society, we are bombarded with information from all sides. News, articles, blog posts, forum comments, text messages, and much more are always within our reach. Therefore, it has also become crucial to be able to critically evaluate the information we consume, whether to verify the accuracy of the news, to form an informed opinion on a subject, or simply to enjoy a good book.

The relevance of this skill in the real world is undeniable. Whether to keep up with the news and engage in informed discussions, to conduct research for studies or work, or simply to appreciate literature, the ability to read and interpret texts of various genres is essential. Additionally, this skill also plays an important role in our participation in democracy, as it allows us to form our own opinions and make informed decisions.

Given the importance of reading and interpreting different textual genres, this project aims to help students improve these skills. To achieve this, students will be encouraged to explore different textual genres, discuss their characteristics and structures, and practice reading and interpreting these texts.

Project Objective:

This project aims to enhance students' ability to read and interpret a variety of textual genres. By the end of the project, students will have a deeper understanding of the characteristics and structures of different textual genres, as well as an increased ability to critically evaluate the information they read.

Detailed Project Description:

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be assigned a specific textual genre - for example, news, scientific article, poetry, fiction story, etc.

The group's task will be to "excavate" their textual genre, exploring its unique characteristics and structures and learning to read and interpret it effectively. The group should investigate the history of the textual genre, identify its key structural and stylistic characteristics, and discuss the particularities and challenges of reading and interpreting the assigned genre.

Required Materials:

• Books, articles, and other resources related to the assigned textual genre.
• Equipment for online research (computer, tablet, etc.)
• Materials for note-taking (notebook, pen).
• Presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.)

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution:

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students and assign each group a different textual genre.

2. Each group should start their "excavation" by researching the history of their textual genre, discussing its unique characteristics, and identifying examples of the genre in literature and media.

3. The group should read and analyze various samples of the textual genre, discussing how the genre is structured and what techniques are used to convey meaning.

4. Based on their research and analysis, the group will create a presentation that will include the history of the genre, its characteristics and structures, examples of the genre, and a discussion on reading and interpreting the genre.

5. Each group will present their research and findings to the class.

Project Deliverables:

At the end of the project, each group must deliver the following documentation:

1. A PowerPoint presentation (or equivalent), including the history of the genre, its characteristics and structures, examples of the genre, and a discussion on reading and interpreting the genre.

2. A detailed written report of their research and findings. This report will be divided into four main parts:

   • Introduction: The report should start with an introduction to the textual genre, explaining why it is important and how it is applied in the real world.

   • Conclusion: The report should conclude with a discussion on the main points of the project, what the students learned, and how it enriched their understanding of reading and interpreting texts.

   • Bibliography: Finally, the report should include a list of all sources used for the research.
