Subordinate noun clauses are a crucial topic in the study of Portuguese grammar. This type of clause is named this way because its role is similar to that of a noun within a sentence. They can function as the subject, direct object, indirect object, nominal complement, or subject complement of the main clause.

Subordinate noun clauses are divided into six types: subjective, direct objective, indirect objective, nominal completive, predicative, and appositive. Each type refers to the function the clause performs in the sentence. For example, a subjective subordinate noun clause functions as the subject of the main clause.

But why study subordinate noun clauses? Understanding linguistic particularities helps us comprehend and construct texts better. From reading a book to sending a text message, through the elaboration of a report, the proper use of language favors efficient and effective communication.

Activity Title: Theater of Subordinate Noun Clauses

Project Objective

The activity aims to develop the ability to identify and use subordinate noun clauses, stimulating students' creativity, collaboration, time management, and expression skills.

Detailed Project Description

The project consists of developing a short theater script and its subsequent representation. Each team will be tasked with producing a theater script where all lines contain at least one subordinate noun clause.

Required Materials

• Paper and pen to write the script.
• Camera or cellphone to record the theatrical representation.

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group must choose a theme for the script. The theme is free, as long as the script contains subordinate noun clauses in all lines.
3. Students should research and study theory about subordinate noun clauses, using the indicated resources and any others they wish.
4. The script should be written in the form of dialogues between characters, with each line containing at least one subordinate noun clause.
5. Subsequently, students must rehearse and record the script's representation. The theatrical piece's duration should be a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes.
6. Upon finishing the recording, students must transcribe the presented script, identifying the subordinate noun clauses and classifying them according to their type.
7. Students should prepare a report on the project, following the suggested structure: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography. The report should contain between 800 and 1000 words.

Project Deliverables

• Script written in formal language with the classification of subordinate noun clauses.
• Video of the theatrical representation.
• Written report containing:

1. Introduction: Contextualization of the theme and relevance of studying subordinate noun clauses. Description of the project's objective.

2. Development: Explanation of the theory about subordinate noun clauses. Detailed description of the activity performed, indicating the methodology used. Presentation and discussion of the results obtained, pointing out examples from the script and the classification of subordinate noun clauses.

Project Execution Time

Each student will have one week to complete the project. The project should require two to four hours per student to be executed.
