Causative Verb Patterns: Meaning, Form, and Choice

Create an 8-slide English grammar presentation for 10th-grade students. Teach causative verbs through the patterns have + person + base verb, get + person + to-infinitive, make + person + base verb, let + person + base verb, and help + person + base verb or to-infinitive. For each pattern, show its meaning relationship—arranging, persuading, forcing, permitting, or assisting—plus one clear school or workplace example and a visual showing the causer and the action performer. Include one comparison slide emphasizing that make and let take the base verb without “to,” get takes “to” plus the verb, and help allows either form. Include one final synthesis slide contrasting the five meanings and directing students back to their conference-team drafts. Do not include assessment items or unrelated forms such as “have something done.”
