What is a Sentence?

A sentence tells a whole idea. It starts with a capital letter and ends with a period. For example, 'The cat naps.'

Two Simple Ideas

Each of these is a simple idea. It tells one complete thought. They can stand all by themselves.

Dog plays in park, a simple, complete thought.

Simple ideas, like quiet reflection, stand alone.

• Put them together with "and"!

• Now it's one longer sentence!

Joining Words: And
