Computer Hardware: meeting the hardware team
Section role: supports the 'Meeting the Hardware Team' section while the teacher reviews the group findings from the previous challenge and introduces formal computer architecture terminology. Slides: (1) Title — 'Meeting the Hardware Team'; (2) The CPU — bullets: definition of Central Processing Unit as the brain, image of a real CPU chip, how it follows instructions; (3) Input Devices — bullets: mouse and keyboard, how we use them to send information into the machine; (4) Output Devices — bullets: monitor and printer, how the machine shows us pictures, videos, and printed text; (5) Storage — bullets: long-term memory, backpack analogy for saving files even when powered off; (6) Tower vs. Monitor — bullets: clarifying confusion between the computer tower where the brain lives and the monitor screen. Closing slide: 'Which part of the computer acts like your eyes and which part acts like your brain?' — sets up the individual assessment worksheet that follows.
