What is a Silhouette?

It's a dark shape you see when bright light is behind something. It looks like a shadow, but you can see its edges very clearly.

Dark Shapes All Around!

Look! Can you see dark shapes around you? These dark shapes are called silhouettes. We see them when light shines from behind things, like a tall tree or a playful animal.

Domestic animals: dog, cat, cow, rabbit, horse, sheep, goat, rooster, duck.

Our Face's Dark Shape

This is a dark shape of our face. It shows the side of your head, like when you look sideways. It's just the outside line, not the colors inside.

Find the Forehead!

Look at the top of the head. This smooth, curved part is the forehead. It's above your eyes!

Find the Nose!

Look closely at the face outline. Can you see the little bump or curve in the middle? That's where the nose goes! It helps us smell yummy cookies.
