States of Matter: particle theory presentation

Section role: supports the formalization of vocabulary and particle properties in Section 3, building directly on the physical simulation from Section 2 and preparing students for the assessment in Section 4. Slides: (1) Title — 'The Science of Small Things: How Matter Behaves'; (2) What is inside matter? — bullets: introduction of invisible tiny building units called particles, always in continuous motion; (3) Solid state: Ice — bullets: tight packing, very little space, low energy, maintaining a definite shape; (4) Liquid state: Flowing Water — bullets: more space between units, sliding past each other, taking the shape of the container while keeping definite volume; (5) Gas state: Steam and Water Vapor — bullets: highest energy, particles far apart, filling the whole container; (6) Myth Buster: Is steam a liquid? — bullets: correction explaining steam is an invisible or condensing gas, not liquid droplets; (7) Energy and behavior — bullets: how adding heat changes tightly packed ice into free-moving steam; Closing slide: 'If you could shrink down to particle size in a glass of water, what would you see?' — hands control back to the teacher to lead the transition into the individual mastery check.
