The Anatomy of a Great Review: Structure and Vocabulary Walkthrough
Section role: supports the formalization of book review components during Section 3 while the teacher uses group pitches from the previous challenge to define formal vocabulary. Slides: (1) Title — 'The Anatomy of a Great Review'; (2) What is Plot? — bullets: sequence of events, difference from Main Idea, example using a familiar classroom story; (3) The Main Idea — bullets: the deeper meaning, themes like bravery or friendship; (4) Defining the Problem — bullets: the main character's obstacle, what started the conflict; (5) Values and Morals — bullets: what the text teaches us, lessons carried into real life; (6) Four-Part Review Structure — bullets: Introduction, Summary, Opinion with star rating, Value; (7) Before and After — bullets: side-by-side comparison of a messy unstructured pitch versus a structured review; (8) Closing slide — 'How does knowing the problem help us explain the value of a story?' — sets up the individual drafting activity in Section 4.
