Once upon a time, there was a magical school called 'Space Advancement School'. Every day, students found new ways to learn about the mysteries of space and the location of objects. One day, Ms. Geovana announced a special mission: the students had to solve a space riddle that was causing a lot of confusion in the school. Everyone was excited and ready for the adventure!
'Good morning, little explorers!', said the teacher, smiling. 'Today, we will apply concepts of spatial references in our classroom and in our school. For that, we will have a series of amazing activities that use technology and creativity!' The students cheered at the news and grouped together to start the journey.
The first mission was to create a detailed Virtual Map of the classroom. Each group received a tablet and needed to identify the position of furniture and objects using references like 'front and back', 'left and right', 'above and below', 'inside and outside'. To advance in the mission, each group needed to answer the following questions: Where is the teacher's desk in relation to the blackboard? What object is to the left of the entrance door? Is the clock above or below the bookshelf?
By answering these questions correctly, the students could unlock special features in the mapping app and moved forward in constructing the map. Every detail mattered, and the students worked hard to create accurate representations of the room.
The second mission was to become Digital Influencers and create a Virtual Tour of the school. Equipped with smartphones, the groups recorded videos and explained the location and position of various objects and places like real tour guides. This time, the questions to advance included: If you are facing the library, what is the next location to the right? On the main hallway, which side is the science lab on? When you are in front of the courtyard, is the cafeteria above or below?
The students took great care in producing the videos, adding texts and stickers to illustrate spatial references, making the videos even more dynamic and easy to understand.
Finally, the most exciting mission of all was the Treasure Hunt with Augmented Reality. Each group needed to find virtual objects hidden throughout the school, following clues that used spatial references. The questions to proceed in the game were: To find the first item, go to where the main stairs are located. Is the treasure above or below it? Is the next item inside or outside the music room? Look for the last item behind the statue in the garden. Is it to the left or to the right of it?
The students ran around the school, using tablets and smartphones to explore and discover the hidden objects. The enthusiasm was contagious, and the augmented reality technology made the experience even more magical.
At the end of the activities, the groups gathered to share their learnings and reflections. 'What we liked most was using augmented reality to find the treasures!', one of the students said excitedly. 'Technology helped us understand better where things are in relation to each other.'
Ms. Geovana concluded the lesson emphasizing the importance of spatial references in everyday life and how technology can be a great ally in learning. 'Today, we learned to locate and position objects in a fun and practical way. Now, we can apply this knowledge in many situations, both at school and outside.'
Thus, the students returned home with a new understanding of the space around them, eager to explore and apply their new skills in the diverse adventures that the future held for them.
